Activities in Milan, near Linate airport
If you are in Linate you can reach the city center in no time, to visit the most important attractions. One of the mandatory stops is Milan Cathedral, just 30 minutes away from the airport. The Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, commonly called Milan Cathedral is the symbol of the city and is the second largest church in Italy. The imposing Gothic-style facade boasts of white Condoglia marble from a quarry on Lake Maggiore.
Among the 145 spiers of the Cathedral, we find the tallest, built in 1774, which houses the famous Madonnina covered with gold sheets, 4 meters high. You can visit the Milan Cathedral and go up to the terrace, using a comfortable lift or walk the thousands of steps. The panorama from that height is of indescribable beauty.
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is located very close to the Duomo and is considered to be Milan's sitting room, an elegant meeting point for the Milanese bourgeoisie. Center of elegant shops, but also of famous restaurants and cafes: Caffè Camparino and Caffè Biffi.
The Pinacoteca di Brera is located in the large palace of the same name and is an ancient and modern art gallery with over 24,000 square meters of surface. The museum displays works of Venetian, Tuscan and Lombard painting, but also works by the Flemish school, a rich journey that varies from prehistory to contemporary art, with masterpieces by artists of the twentieth century. It also houses other institutions: the Braidense National Library, the Brera observatory, the Botanical Garden, the Lombard Institute of Sciences and Letters and the Academy of Fine Arts.
Castello Sforzesco is one of the largest castles in Europe and one of the most sumptuous locations thanks to the works of Bramante and Leonardo da Vinci. It houses museums and art exhibitions.
If you are a true fan of Italian art, we recommend you visit the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where perhaps one of Leonardo Da Vinci's most important works is kept: the Cenacolo (also known as the Last Supper).
Once you have finished visiting the most evocative places that we have suggested, you can take advantage of the return transfer from Linate to Milan Orio al Serio airport.
